CodeOrgan: Play websites as a tune

How fun is that? CodeOrgan analyses the html-body of any website in order to create tunes. It looks at the characters used to determine the most commonly used “note”, adds a scale to go with that, then selects some instruments to assign and presto!

Only thing missing is an export to MIDI.

Our epic trance recreation of the excellent Satori by Rodrigo y Gabriela. This track has about every single epic trance cliche you can think of. No really.. every single one of them. Well, maybe except for the fact that the bassline is in triplets (for those of you who know what triplets are).

But the fact that it lasts for almost 10 minutes is VERY epic!

Guitar practice … anywhere

Like playing the guitar? Wish you could do it anywhere, anytime? Well.. if you own an Android mobile device, you’re in luck.

There is an application called Robotic Guitarist which lets you play a 6-string on your mobile (hurray for Android). Needles to say that this means you can play anywhere; you can even plug it into an amp or a program such as GuitarRig (I’ve tried and it actually sounds somewhat decent).

Of course it doesn’t have all the nuances of a real guitar. Also it lacks a neck (otherwise it would never fit into your pocket). Changing chords is done by pressing one of six buttons on the side that correspond with a certain predefined chord. So if your epic solo has more than six chords, you are out of luck.

Then again, this application isn’t really meant for that kind of work in the first place. It does come with 3 build in instruments you can choose from and also features a guitar tuner and metronome… utterly convenient!

So it’s great for trying out some new melodies, but face it: rocking out on stage on your phone would look pathetic… ..or truely epic and utterly cool in a geeky kind of way!

We’ve been having some complaints (you know who you are) about the lack of four-to-the-floor tracks in the music section as of late. Well, that’s going to change quite soon…

Meet Rodrigo y Gabriela: virtuoso on the Spanish guitar. Utterly incredible how good they are. And the track embedded below inspired us to mechanically reclaim it. What that exactly means will become apparent in the very near future. So while you wait for that, kick back and enjoy the video. A little hint on things to come: pay particular attention to part from 4:12 onwards.
